Organizational Relationship

Directly responsible to the Principal. Jointly responsible to appropriate Curriculum Supervisor.

Statement of Duties:

• • Provide individualized/small group support to the assigned student(s) during extracurricular activities, ensuring their needs are met, and they can participate fully.
  • Assist with the student’s physical, emotional, healthcare, and social development needs, as applicable.
  • Collaborate with educators, support staff, and the special education department to ensure a cohesive approach to meeting the student’s needs.
  • Implement specific strategies and accommodations tailored to the student’s individual education plan (IEP).
  • Foster a positive and encouraging environment that promotes confidence and self- esteem.
  • Monitor and document the student’s progress and any challenges faced during activities, as needed.
  • Communicate with student liaison(s) as needed.

Qualifications:

• Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required.
• Knowledge of middle school philosophy, organization, and curriculum.
• Understanding of the middle school student and his/her early adolescent needs.
• Knowledge of recommended middle school instructional practices.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
