ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION
Title of Position: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL – consentino MIDDLE SCHOOL
Work Year: Eleven (11) Months
Effective Date
of Employment: 2025-2026 School Year
Salary: In accordance with the Administrative Salary Scale according to education and experience.
Organizational Relationship
or Line of Authority: Directly responsible to the Principal for matters pertaining to the building and to the Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendent and/or her/his designees.
Statement of Duties:
- Serves as a support to the Principal in the overall administration of the school.
- Assists the Principal in implementing the instructional philosophy, goals, and objectives of the system and the building.
- Carries out administrative and supervisory duties as are assigned by the Principal and makes such decisions as are necessary during the absence of the Principal.
- Provides strong and visible leadership for curriculum, instruction, and assessment of student achievement. This is a most critical attribute. Instructional leadership is the priority.
- Works with building administrators to affect an optimum learning climate for all students that promotes positive student interactions, learning, and quality curriculum.
- Supervises and evaluates teachers and support staff according to the new evaluation module.
- Implements effective discipline and security policies.
- Assists the Principal in the preparation of all mandated state and federal reports.
- Procures substitutes for teachers, support personnel, and custodians.
- Attends, conducts, and/or supervises after school and evening activities as directed by the Principal.
- Assists the Principal with the preparation of the annual budget.
- Assists the Principal with the school site council.
- Works with parents and students on problems related to behavior and attendance.
- Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student discipline and attendance.
- Maintains accurate disciplinary records and monitors the progress of individual student behavior.
- Participates in the staff selection process.
- Assists the Principal in professional development, curriculum and instruction, and student assessment.
- Works with the community and government agencies on student-related problems.
- Maintains accurate disciplinary records and monitors the progress of individual student behavior.
- Assists in the reporting and monitoring of student attendance.
- Assists in the development and implementation of school policies.
- Participates, whenever necessary, in team meetings, and individual or group conferences related to student programming and placement.
- Works the requisite hours needed to meet the responsibilities of the aforementioned job description and be responsible for other instructional and general duties as indicated by the directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
Qualifications:
- Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Principal/Assistant Principal –5-8
- Minimum of a Master’s Degree with graduate work in Educational Administration, Curriculum Development, Supervision, and/or Evaluation.
- Can demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years successful experience as a teacher at the elementary school level.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
